Sixth Series

The 6th series is the most difficult test in this invitational for 2024. This is a triple, with a live flyer, one land blind, one water, and diversion shot.

Marks are thrown middle, left flyer, and a wipeout go bird. A diversion shot will be presented on the way back from the flyer. After the marks have been picked up a pair of blinds is needed to complete to test. Judges did not specify which blind to pick up first.

Mark #1 is the middle mark thrown down a spit of land from left to right angled back. The gun station is right at the corner of water. The line to this mark is through the water and up and out on the spit of land around 70 yards.

Mark #2 is your flyer, this mark is thrown left to right angled back and landing up into high cover near to top of the ridge line and is around 70 yards. This mark lands in various tall to short cover and the line to this mark runs past mark #1 gun station.

Mark #3 is your wipeout bird at 30 yards. This is a high arcing bird thrown across the pond with the gun station on the far right side of the test. This bird lands in high cover along the left edge of the water and is in line with the holding blind for mark #2. This go bird will test steadiness and control but it will also wipeout mark #2 for some dogs.

Mark #1 and Mark #3 are on very tight lines. In fact, many dogs had handles trying to send for mark #1 as the dogs swam close to Mark #3 location they would start to slow down and some starting to cave into the old fall requiring a handle. Another reason dogs thought about returning to the old fall was the diversion shot coming from gun station #3 as the dogs returned from the flyer. Why? Dogs thought there was a mark thrown again from gun station #3 as they headed toward mark #2.

The land blind is behind the flyer. Dogs must navigate various cut strips in the tall cover, down a slight draw and work up toward the ridge line. Land blind is around 90 yards from the line. Most dogs did an excellent job with this blind but a few drove deep putting them in jeopardy of returning to the flyer mark.

The water blind looks to be the more challenging blind in this series. The line to blind is under the arc of the wipeout bird, in the water, up on a small island, back into the water and cross to the far bank to pick up the bird. Distance is around 60 yards.
